- INDONESIAN CITIZENS IN BRUNEI SET FOR
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

General election to elect the Indonesian President and Vice
President will be conducted on September 20, 2004 simultaneously in
Indonesia and abroad as well as in Brunei Darussalam.

- In
this regard, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Yusbar
Djamil call on the Indonesian residing and working in the Sultanate
to actively participate in this Presidential Direct Election which
will be held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Spg 528,
Kg Sg Hanching Baru Jalan Muara Bandar Seri Begawan from 8.AM to 6
PM. The Ambassador request the kind assistance of the Bruneian
Employers to allow their Indonesian Employees to participate
actively at such Presidential Election.

- The
Indonesian who lives in Tutong, Kuala Belait, Seria, and Temburong
could cast their ballots through the number of “collecting points”
in the designated area mentioned above. Voters in these areas will
receive an envelope contains the ballots that need to be punched on
September 20, 2004. This ballots to deposited at the “collecting
points”. The boxes from various “collecting points” then will be
brought by duty officers to the Indonesian Embassy at the same day

- To
conduct the General Elections that will select directly the
President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, some
preparation has been made by the Indonesian Embassy such as
socialization to the Indonesian communities via media to inform and
encourage them to exercise their voting rights on the actual day.
A simulation will also be conducted at the Embassy of the Republic
of Indonesia on Sunday September 19, 2004.

The registered voters in Brunei Darussalam for this election are
8750 people or there is an increase of 344 people compare with the
registered number at the last general election held on July 5, 2004
which is only 8406 people
