INDONESIAN EMBASSY MARKS
THE FEAST OF SACRIFICE ON HARI RAYA AIDIL ADHA
 
 
            On January 21, 2005, at its compound, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam celebrated Hari Raya Aidil Adha together with around 600 Indonesians residing and working in the Sultanate.
 
            The function commenced with mass recitation of Takbir continued by Aidil Adha Mass Prayer led by Imam Ustadz Haji Zainul Arifin Lubis an Indonesian qori who works with the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Negara Brunei Darussalam and then followed by a religious sermon or khutbah delivered by Ustadz Haji Harun Yatim. 
 
            This event of Aidil Adha was also marked by the collection of voluntary donations or sadaqah in the form of cash to be given to the tsunami victims in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and North Sumatera, Indonesia. The money that have been collected by the Embassy so far, together with the collections during the Aidil Adha mass prayer has reached the amount of B$ 34.885.
 
 The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Yusbar Djamil with the Embassy’s staffs and the Indonesian community joined all the well-wishers in praying for forgiveness from God Almighty for the Aceh’s tsunamis victims and for the safeguards and well-beings of the remaining victim’s family.
 
            To highlight the feast of sacrifice or Aidul Qurban ceremony a total of 10 livestock consist of 7 goats, 2 buffalows, and 1 cow were slaughtered as qurban or offering. The Ambassador H.E Mr. Yusbar Djamil performed the first sacrificial slaughter and then all the meat were distributed and to be consumed by needy Moslems in Bandar Seri Begawan.
