The Ambassador of the Republic
of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam H.E Mr. Yusbar Djamil accompanied by
some of the Embassy’s Staff visited Temburong on February 26 to 27,
2005.
The purpose of the visit was
to meet the invitation of the Indonesian community members working and
residing in Temburong who wanted to express their sympathy and intended
to donate to alleviate the misery faced by the victims of tsunami
disaster in Aceh and North Sumatera.
The meeting with the
Indonesian community members was held at Sekolah Persediaan Arab Pekan
Bangar Temburong on Februari 26, 2005 and was attended by around one
hundred attendees.
During the meeting, the
Indonesian community members were briefed by Mr. Bambang Gumilar and Mr.
Herman Darman, two Indonesian geologists who gave presentation of slide
projector about the earthquake and tsunami in Aceh and North Sumatera.
The said two Indonesian geologists are working at Brunei Shell Petroleum
Company in Seria.
During the visit to Temburong,
the Ambassador H.E.Mr. Yusbar Djamil paid a courtesy call to Awang
Syahminan bin Haji Tengah, the Acting District Officer of Temburong. In
the meeting with Awang Syahminan, H.E Mr. Yusbar Djamil quoted the
exemplary actions demonstrated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah being the first Head of State to visit the Tsunami’s affected
area of Aceh early this month. H.E Mr. Yusbar Djamil also appreciated
the fact that His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the people of
Brunei Darussalam have committed themselves to assist Indonesia not only
for the emergency relief but also for the rehabilitation and
reconstruction process due to begin shortly.
