REMARKS BY THE INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR TO BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

ON THE AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF THE EID AL FITR AL MUBARAK
ON THE RADIO TELEVISYEN BRUNEI (RTB) PROGRAMME
1ST SYAWAL 1424 HIJRIYAH

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahilhamd,

     With the recitation of kalimah takbir and tahmid, I would like to extend my very best wishes and warmest greetings to the people of Negara Brunei Darussalam.

     Today, all Moslem ummah throughout the world are celebrating the victory day, Eid Al Fitr Al Mubarak with great joy and happiness after having completed month of fasting during Ramadhan.  I believe the values of Ramadhan and Eid Al Fitr Al Mubarak will strengthen and enhance the solidarity and brotherhood among all Muslims throughout the world.

     On this auspicious occasion of the Eid Al Fitr Al Mubarak, I, my wife and on behalf of Indonesian Embassy's staff along with the Indonesian community in Brunei Darussalam wish to convey to His Majesty Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam and the people of Negara Brunei Darussalam, 'Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Lahir dan Batin' and we pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to grant His Blessings upon His Majesty the Sultan and Yang di Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam with happiness, good health, and prosperity.

     Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam are closely engaged in a vigorous partnership that has many aspects and dimensions, not only within a bilateral framework but also at the regional level.  The state visit of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia on 7-11 April 2003 and the working visit to Bali on 7-8 October 2003 for the ASEAN Summit, bring new hope that the spirit of brotherhood and friendliness would be sustained vigorously in the years ahead.

     Last but not least, I would like to thank Radio Televisyen Brunei for inviting me to participate in the radio message programme on the auspicious occasion of the Eid Al Fitr Al Mubarak, 1st Syawal 1424 Hijriyah.
